Projects : Landscaping

As with interior work there are many aspects to deliberate when providing natural stone for landscaping projects. Stone is regularly chosen by architects as the preferred material for exterior hard landscaping projects - it offers versitility and strength whilst still allowing for the option of carved detailing.

Products supplied worldwide include: balustrading, follies, terracing, steps, sundials, birdbaths, temples, paving, coping stones, benches and gate piers.

All designs within the above categories are bespoke and our team will assist with development of a clients original ideas, to complete a design, select a suitable stone, manufacture at the Oxford works and deliver and fix, if required.

Site dimensions can be taken or architects drawings developed for approval using Computer Aided Design where appropriate.

Please call to discuss your project for a service tailor made to suit your needs.

APS Masonry also work in association with The Landscape Ornament Company supplying bespoke, individually carved natural stone garden ornaments.  For a brochure, prices and additional information, please contact Emma Corbett on 01380 840533 and take time to peruse the LOC website http://www.landscapeornament.com/naturalstonecollection

Balustrading, Paving, Gazebos and Follies (Glympton)
Terrace and steps constructed using Bath stone for the balustrade, plinth and step side walls. Hard York stone was used for the terrace steps and paving all laid to falls and purpose made perimeter gutters.

Gazebo
This Gazebo was dismantled, relocated and rebuilt using the existing stone. Approximately 20% of the original stone was replaced with new stone during the rebuild with particular attention to replicate moulded details.

Gazebo
The columns and cornice used to construct this gazebo originally formed part of a Port Cochere, which once adorned the entrance to the Georgian House.

Cotswold House
In association with Symm & Co - the Main Contractor, Alan Konya - the Architect and Pip Morrison - the Landscape Architect a reduced level and revised staircase scheme was proposed and accepted.

The original basement light wells were opened up completely and new Guiting clad retaining walls were introduced capped off with a once weathered Guiting coping. This detail was introduced to both the East and West sides of the South Elevation.

The original staircase was dismantled completely and a new-cantilevered concrete slab formed to provide the enlarged balcony/landing area for the new yorkstone pavings and edgings. The new flight of steps was also cast in new concrete prior to being clad with bulnosed yorkstone treads and plain Guiting risers. Guiting ashlar side cheeks were also introduced to both sides of the new staircase incorporating arched openings. The external sides of the new staircase were also clad in Guiting limestone, the lower portions being circular in plan.

A fairly large twice weathered Guiting coping was supplied and fitted onto a newly built dry stone wall to the East side abutting the existing terrace and a solid yorkstone staircase, clad either side with Guiting ashlar was introduced to the Western side to accommodate the new change in levels between the Western driveway and the new South Terrace.

Pond Surround - Oxfordshire Residence
3 part pond edging to an 8m diameter pool.  The section comprised of an inner Portland Ashlar, a main moulded upper curb and a plain Portland mowing strip.  These were installed directly onto a cast concrete ground beam.

Each ring of moulding was divided into 32 pieces approximately 900mm long.  Each of the large moulded upper units were manufactured utilising the state of the art technology of the 5 axis G-rex machine which ensured a perfect fit on site requiring the very minimum amount of cleaning in.
